Dhaka, July 5 -- Bangladesh's Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Chattogram, Khulna and Barishal divisions as active south-west monsoon winds continue to intensify.

In a special bulletin on Saturday, the Met Office warned of "heavy to very heavy" rainfall over the next 24 hours starting from 10am, with the southern coastal and hilly regions facing the most risk.

It also warned of possible landslides in hilly areas of Chattogram due to intense downpours, along with temporary urban flooding in parts of Chattogram city.
