Dhaka, Dec. 9 -- A BNP leader has died on the way to hospital after "falling ill" during an election meeting in Lakshmipur.
BNP Joint Secretary General Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee confirmed that the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.
Harunur Rashid, 63, was the joint general secretary of BNP in Bangakha Union in Sadar Upazila. He was a farmer by profession.
The district BNP expressed deep shock over the incident and condolences to the bereaved family.
BNP leaders and activists said Harun most likely suffered a brain haemorrhage.
Expressing condolences, Anee said: "Harun has made a lot of sacrifices and worked hard for the party."
