Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- BNP chief Khaleda Zia is under intensive medical care at Evercare Hospital, with her condition described as "complex and critical".

Her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain spoke outside the hospital on Saturday night following a meeting of the medical board, which included her son, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman.

Dr Zahid said, "It cannot be said that her condition has improved. She is passing through an extremely critical phase," he said, urging the nation to pray for her recovery.

Khaleda was admitted to the hospital on Nov 23 after a significant deterioration in her health, prompting her transfer from a cabin to the ICU.
