Dhaka, Jan. 13 -- Milon Mallik, accused of killing a schoolgirl in Banasree, has confessed to the crime in court, according to investigators.

Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Abdur Razzak of Khilgaon Police produced Milon in court on Tuesday, applying to record a voluntary confession.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain subsequently recorded Milon's statement before he was sent to prison, said Prosecution Police SI Md Marufuzzaman.

Milon, 28, had worked at the restaurant owned by the victim's father. He was arrested late Sunday night at Bagerhat's Boro Singha by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

The girl's body, a 10th grader of Radiant School and College, was recovered Saturday afternoon from Block E, Banasree.
