Dhaka, May 31 -- The interim government has raised the price of kerosene by Tk 10 per litre for June while cutting diesel by Tk 2, and petrol and octane by Tk 3.

The revised rates, announced in a notification from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Saturday, will take effect from Jun 1.

Under the new pricing, diesel will now sell at Tk 102 per litre, petrol at Tk 118, octane at Tk 122 and kerosene at Tk 114.

Although global oil prices fluctuate regularly, Bangladesh had long maintained retail prices unchanged for extended periods, with the government stepping in occasionally to adjust them.

This often led to either consumer losses or financial pressure on the state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
