Dhaka, April 24 -- Md Al Kamal Sheikh, arrested over the murder of Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez, has given a statement in court "confessing" to the crime.

The confession came while Kamal, 19, who is not a student of the university, was on remand.

On Wednesday, Banani Police Inspector AKM Moin Uddin brought him before a Dhaka court to record the statement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman recorded Kamal's statement and ordered him to be sent to jail.

Sub-Inspector Moktar Hossain from the prosecution wing of Banani Police Station confirmed the development.

Kamal, along with two others, was arrested by Banani police on Sunday midnight, the day after Parvez's murder.
