Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- The government has decided to send Khokon Chandra Barman, who was seriously wounded during the mass uprising in July-August, to Russia for improved treatment.

He would fly to Russia in the early hours of Friday, the health ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Khokon suffered bullet injuries outside the capital's Jatrabari Police Station on Aug 5 afternoon. A significant portion of his face alongside the bones was damaged in the shooting. His upper lip, gums, nose, palate - they no longer exist. The entire face was disfigured.

According to the ministry's statement, the University Clinic of MV Lomonosov Hospital in the Russian capital Moscow has agreed to take up the challenge of reconstructing Khokon's face after ...
