Dhaka, June 1 -- Five charges of crimes against humanity have been filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal over attempts to suppress the 2024 July Uprising.

The prosecution submitted the formal charges and all documents to the office of the tribunal's registrar on Sunday afternoon. Afterwards, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam presented the 134-page chargesheet to the three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder.

The other two members of this tribunal are Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired district and sessions judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
