Dhaka, Oct. 20 -- A mob has beaten up a local journalist in Chattogram's Sitakunda before handing him over to the police. He has since been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The incident took place on Sunday night in the Rail Gate area of Sitakunda Municipality.

The injured journalist has been identified as Liton Kumar Chowdhury, the Sitakunda correspondent for the national Daily Janakantha and former general secretary of the Sitakunda Press Club.

Mojibur Rahman, chief of Sitakunda Police Station, told bdnews24.com that a few people brought Liton to the police station at night. No cases are filed against him and he was later taken to the hospital for treatment.
