Dhaka, Dec. 20 -- Journalist Anis Alamgir has been sent to jail after interrogation concluded in an Anti-Terrorism Act case filed with Uttara West Police Station in Dhaka.

The order was issued on Saturday by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasan Shahadat, confirmed Prosecution Sub-Inspector Shamim Hossain.

After a five-day remand, investigation officer Inspector Kazi Shahnewaz of the Detective Branch of police produced Alamgir before the court and sought his detention in jail.

The petition says Anis was interrogated in police custody, during which "crucial information relevant to the case was obtained".
