Dhaka, Dec. 6 -- Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has claimed the party has consistently stood for democracy and constitutional protection, and said they should be allowed to participate in national elections alongside other political parties.

He made the comments at a meeting organised at the Jatiya Party's central office in Kakrail, Dhaka, on Saturday to mark "Constitution Protection Day".

He said it was regrettable to see the party's student wing labelled as "ally of the fascists" even though it took to the streets in support of students during the July Uprising.
