Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- Miscreants have hacked a leader of Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JaSaS), the cultural wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, to death in Gazipur's Sreepur.

Sreepur Police chief Mohammad Nasir Ahmad said they recovered the body of the man, identified as Farid Sarker, 41, on Tuesday night at Gosinga.

Farid was the joint secretary of the Gosinga Union chapter of JaSaS.

He had returned home after spending 20 years abroad, his father Jamal Uddin said. He worked as a contractor at a local brick kiln, supplying raw materials.

Jamal claimed to have spotted marks of injuries inflicted by sharp weapons on his son's body.
