Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- Locals have detained a Jamaat-e-Islami leader with money in Cumilla's Muradnagar Upazila over allegedly "buying votes".
The same day, a video of two BNP workers being detained in Chauddagram Upazila for allegedly handing out cash with voter slips went viral.
Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents.
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Reza Hasan said the two incidents took place on Wednesday morning.
He said, "The Electoral Inquiry Committee will investigate the incidents and the judicial magistrates will take action."
The arrested Jamaat leader is Habibur Rahman Helali, the head of the party in the Upazila's Saliakandi Union.
