Dhaka, Dec. 15 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has demanded an explanation for the comments made by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin on the attack on Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi.

Speaking at a Victory Day discussion on Monday, he said if the CEC's explanation fails to ease public anger, the people will decide how to react to it.

He said, "The head of the Election Commission has made a statement that I believe has hurt people, like it hurt me.

"It is not our responsibility to see his intention; the subject of the statement has come before the nation. The nation did not take his statement well at all, yet he is sitting in a neutral place.
