Dhaka, Aug. 31 -- The Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed concern that the interim government, alongside domestic and foreign forces, are obstructing free and fair elections, raising doubts over whether Bangladesh is heading toward a conspiratorial "blueprint" election.

After a meeting with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher outlined the party's position.

"Questions are emerging in our minds and across the nation about whether we are moving toward a blueprint-style election," Taher said.

He criticised the government for announcing an election date after Yunus met a BNP acting chief in London, calling it "unprecedented" and "undermining impartiality".
