Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- The Jamaat-e-Islami has urged the Election Commission (EC) to ensure a level playing field by ensuring that all candidates comply with the electoral code of conduct.
The party conveyed its concern over many candidates potentially competing in the parliamentary polls breaching the electoral code in a meeting with the EC on Wednesday.
Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair said, "We mainly focused on the enforcement of the electoral code of conduct."
He claimed that his party's potential candidates across Bangladesh had removed their posters and banners within 48 hours of the announcement of the election schedule.
"But the electoral code has been violated by other sides in many places," he said.
