Dhaka, March 6 -- Writer and intellectual Badruddin Umar has said accepting the Independence Award is "impossible" for him.
He explained that he has been nominated for awards by different government and non-government organisations since 1973, but has never accepted any of them.
Media reports recently suggested that Badruddin, along with seven others, had been nominated for the Independence Award 2025, though the government has yet to issue an official gazette notification.
Reacting to the news, the Marxist theorist issued a statement clarifying his stance.
