Dhaka, Dec. 2 -- Authorities in Ishwardi have ejected a government officer from his residence after eight puppies -- born barely a week ago -- were recovered drowned from a pond, prompting officials to condemn the incident as "inhuman and cruel".
Upazila administrator (UNO) Md Moniruzzaman said on Tuesday that Hasnur Rahman Nayan, an officer at the Ishwardi Small Farmers Development Foundation, was asked to leave the government residence within a day as "punishment for an act of extreme cruelty".
On Saturday, locals found the puppies stuffed in a sack floating in a pond beside the Upazila Parishad auditorium around 11:30am, Ishwardi Police chief ASM Abdur Noor said.
Hasnur later admitted he had removed the puppies from his courtyard. "...
