Dhaka, April 3 -- BNP leader Ishraque Hossain has flown to London to meet the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, following a court ruling that declared him the rightful mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

He boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Shahjalal International Airport at 7:30am on Wednesday.

Before his departure, Ishraque told bdnews24.com: "I am heading to London to have a meeting with our leader Tarique Rahman."

Referring to the court's verdict on Thursday, he said: "It was a long-awaited judgment, and we have received justice. I am travelling to discuss the next steps and make decisions for our party."

Ishraque confirmed he would return to Bangladesh shortly.
