Dhaka, March 4 -- The interim government has decided to recruit 2,000 more doctors through the Public Service Commission, or PSC, to improve healthcare with a focus on rural areas.
The decision was made at an advisory council meeting, chaired by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, on Tuesday.
The recruitment process for 3,493 doctors through the PSC is already under way, Environment and Forest Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan said during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.
"We have also decided to hire 2,000 more doctors," she said.
"The main objective is to ensure that people in rural areas, who often lack access to medical care, receive adequate healthcare services," she added.
