Dhaka, Dec. 26 -- Leaders and activists of Inqilab Moncho have occupied Dhaka's Shahbagh intersection, demanding justice for their slain leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi.

The protest began after Jummah prayers on Friday, bringing traffic along one of the city's key thoroughfares to an abrupt halt.

Protesters chanted slogans pledging that Hadi's murder would not go unpunished, alongside religious chants of "Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar".

Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, said protesters had renamed the area "Shaheed Osman Hadi Square".

"Our movement will continue until justice for Hadi's murder is ensured," he added.
