Dhaka, Feb. 15 -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the swearing-in ceremony of BNP chief Tarique Rahman as Bangladesh's prime minister, Indian news channel Times Now reports.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will represent India at the ceremony scheduled for Feb 17, according to the broadcaster.
Bangladesh had invited Modi along with several regional leaders to attend the oath-taking of the new government following the BNP's victory in the Feb 12 parliamentary election.
Modi is unlikely to travel to Dhaka as he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the report.
