Dhaka, March 26 -- Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended felicitations to the people of Bangladesh celebrating Independence Day.

The leaders of the neighbouring country sent separate letters to President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus to congratulate them, the High Commission of India in Bangladesh said on Wednesday.

Addressing his Bangladeshi counterpart, Murmu said: "On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to your excellency and to the friendly people of Bangladesh on the occasion of your national day."
