Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- BNP has won all three parliamentary constituencies in Lalmonirhat, securing two of the seats for the first time in nearly five decades.
The party secured Lalmonirhat-1 and Lalmonirhat-2 after 47 years, and Lalmonirhat-3 after 25 years.
In Lalmonirhat-1 (Hatibandha-Patgram), BNP candidate Md Hasan Rajib Prodhan won the 13th general election with 138,686 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami's Md Anwarul Islam Raju, secured 129,572 votes. The margin was 9,114 votes.
According to the Election Commission, the last time BNP won Lalmonirhat-1 was 47 years ago in the second parliamentary election on Feb 18, 1979, when Kazi Nuruzzaman secured 23,072 votes. His closest rival was Awami League (Malek) candidate Abid Ali, who...
