Dhaka, Feb. 3 -- The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has formally charged Bangladesh Workers Party chief Rashed Khan Menon and former food minister Qamrul Islam with crimes against humanity over "killings" during the July Uprising.
On Tuesday, Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim said "two charges of murder" have been formally filed against Menon and Qamrul.
Following the change of government, Menon was arrested on Aug 22, 2024.
He had previously served under the Awami League government as private aviation and tourism minister, and later as minister of social welfare, and has remained in custody since.
He faces multiple cases linked to killings during the crackdown on the July Uprising.
