Dhaka, Dec. 27 -- Eight flights scheduled to land at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport have been diverted to Kolkata, Bangkok, and Chattogram due to heavy fog.

The airport authorities confirmed the diversions in a statement on Saturday, saying that several flights were rerouted to alternative airports as a precautionary measure for safety.

According to the statement, three flights were diverted to Chattogram, four to Kolkata, and one to Bangkok.

"Normal flight operations will resume once weather conditions improve," the airport authorities said.

The statement added that the respective airlines are providing necessary refreshments and hotel accommodation to passengers affected by the delays.
