Dhaka, May 9 -- Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of the National Citizen Party (NCP) South unit, has called for a sit-in in front of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus's official residence demanding a ban on the Awami League.

The call came in a Facebook post around 9:50pm, following former president Md Abdul Hamid's departure from Bangladesh early Thursday.

In the post, Hasnat said the protest programme would begin at 10pm on Thursday outside the State Guest House Jamuna.

"The sit-in outside the chief advisor's residence Jamuna will continue from 10pm tonight until there is a clear roadmap to ensure trial of the 'genocidal' Awami League and a ban on its political activities," he added.
