Dhaka, Nov. 17 -- The crowd present in front of the High Court has been seen bursting into jubilation after the death sentence was handed down to Sheikh Hasina for committing crimes against humanity in trying to suppress the July Uprising.

They embraced immediately after the verdict was announced on Monday.

A group of students and people gathering under the banner "Mancha 24" were seen expressing their jubilation by prostrating themselves and offering prayers in front of the High Court.

Afterwards, Mancha 24 Convenor Fahim Farooqui, said in a prayer: "O Allah, the master of the throne, protect our Bangladesh with the touch of mercy."
