Dhaka, June 25 -- A crude bomb has gone off near the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University, though no injuries were reported.
The blast occurred around 10:30pm in the open grassy area in front of the sculpture, witnesses said.
It remains unclear who was behind the incident.
Hearing a loud bang, several students rushed to the spot and found signs that an improvised device had been thrown before the perpetrators fled.
Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said, "It might have been a hand grenade or a large firecracker.
"We're taking the incident seriously for security reasons. The proctorial team has gone to the scene.
An investigation is under way to identify those responsible, he said.
