Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- The BNP has demanded the arrest of those involved in the shooting of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 and convenor of the Inquilab Mancha platform.

Calling the attack "part of a planned conspiracy", the party announced nationwide protests on Saturday.

The announcement came at an event at the Krishibid Institute in Dhaka's Farmgate on Friday, where Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party's senior joint secretary general, declared the programme.

"The miscreants have shot Osman Hadi. This is part of a planned conspiracy. We demand an immediate investigation into the shooting and the swift arrest of the attackers," he said.
