Dhaka, Oct. 30 -- The interim government and the National Consensus Commission have deceived all parties except Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens Party (NCP), said Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Rashed Khan.

He questioned whether the government had the capacity to hold parliamentary elections and a referendum within four months, saying: "The government has not been able to build its fitness in 14 months. It has only four months in hand now. Does the government have the capacity to hold two elections in these four months?"

"The government has started a conspiracy to sabotage the general election in February by bringing up the issue of a referendum in November, through which only the Awami League will benefit."
