Dhaka, March 4 -- The Ministry of Education has cancelled a directive on reserving a 5 percent quota in government school admissions for family members of those injured or killed in the July Uprising.

In the fresh order published by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on Monday, the ministry said one additional seat will be reserved for admission in each class beyond the determined number of seats.

One additional seat will be reserved in each class along with the seats allocated through lottery for admissions to government schools for family members of those injured and killed in the July Uprising, according to the order.

It will only be applicable for the 2025 academic year.
