Dhaka, Dec. 29 -- From early morning queues to last-minute rushes at dusk, Dhaka's nomination day unfolded in packed corridors, as 194 candidates filed papers to contest 15 parliamentary seats in the capital.
The list of candidates includes the BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman. Their nomination forms were submitted on Monday.
National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary is contesting in the election from Dhaka-8 seat, while former NCP leader Tasnim Jara is vying from Dhaka-15 constituency as an independent candidate.
The Office of the Divisional Commissioner in Dhaka drew large crowds throughout Monday -- the last day of the submission -- amid heightened security.
