Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- BNP nominee for Gazipur-2 M Manjurul Karim Roni and his wife, independent candidate Taposhi Tanmoy Chowdhury, have declared assets worth about Tk 402.5 million against liabilities exceeding Tk 1.4 billion in affidavits submitted to the Election Commission ahead of the 13th parliamentary polls.

The affidavits show that the couple's combined bank loans are more than three times higher than their declared assets.

Roni, general secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP, reported assets worth Tk 382.9 million, including Tk 234.9 million in cash, while his wife listed assets of Tk 19.6 million.
