Dhaka, Nov. 18 -- Four autonomous university student unions have demanded the dismissal of teachers who issued statements in support of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.
On Tuesday, the general secretaries of DUCSU, CUCSU, RUCSU and JUCSU issued a joint statement urging the university administrations to relieve the implicated teachers from their positions within 10 working days.
They said several media reports claimed the statement was issued under the title Progressive Teachers of Bangladesh Public Universities supporting Hasina, which they said has "shocked and angered" the public.
