Dhaka, Feb. 22 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced four men to life imprisonment in a gang rape case filed in 2009 in Kamrangirchar.

Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 delivered the verdict on Sunday, according to Public Prosecutor Ershad Alam.

The convicts are Shahidul Islam, 23, Saiful Islam, 25, Nizam, 24, and Monir Hossain, also known as Sentu, 26.

In addition to the jail sentence, each of the convicts has been fined Tk 100,000. In default of payment, they will have to serve a further year of simple imprisonment.
