Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- Members of a joint security force have detained two people, including a former union council chairman, in Shariatpur's Zajra Upazila.

The operation was conducted from 9pm on Tuesday to 2:30am on Wednesday at Sadar Ali Madbar's Kandi village in BK Nagar union.

Mahabubur Rahman, chief (OC) of Zajira Police Station, said the detainees were handed over to the police station at 10am on Wednesday.

The detainees are former BK Nagar union council chairman Mostafizur Rahman, also known as Mujibar Madbar, and his wife.

OC Mahabubur said the joint forces carried out a raid at the former chairman's residence based on a tip-off.
