Dhaka, July 3 -- A Manikganj court has remanded Naimur Rahman Durjoy, former Manikganj-1 MP and ex-captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, to police custody for four days for questioning over his alleged role in an attack on student protesters during Anti-discrimination Student Movement.

Manikganj Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday.

Durjoy was brought before the court that day as the investigation officer sought a 10-day remand for interrogation.

Special Public Prosecutor Humayun Kabir of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Humayun Kabir argued for remand while senior lawyers, including Nazrul Islam Badsha, defended the accused.
