Dhaka, June 2 -- Former Jagannath University professor SM Anwara Begum has secured bail in a case filed over an alleged attempted murder during the July Uprising.
On Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman granted her bail on a bond of Tk 500, according to Kaiyum Hossain Nayan, assistant public prosecutor of the court.
Anwara, formerly a faculty member of the Political Science Department at Jagannath University, was arrested on the evening of May 28 from outside the university premises.
She was formally shown arrested in a case filed over the alleged attempted murder of Sujon Molla, general secretary of Jagannath University Chhatra Dal, during the July Uprising. She was sent to jail the following day.
