Dhaka, June 23 -- Police have arrested former independent lawmaker Mohammed Faisal Biplob in the Monipuri Para in Dhaka, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
He was detained on Sunday night, but the DMP did not disclose the specific charges against him, nor did police mention the exact location or residence from which he was taken into custody.
Faisal, who was elected as an independent MP from Munshiganj-3 in the 2024 national election, is reportedly named in a murder case filed in connection with the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
During the protests, 30-year-old construction worker Mohammad Sajal was shot dead in Munshiganj. Sajal's brother, Saiful Islam, later filed a murder case naming Faisal among 451 accused.
