Dhaka, March 16 -- Former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has also been named as an accused in the case filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina for alleged crimes against humanity in suppressing the July-August protests.
Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued the order on Sunday following an application filed by the prosecution.
He represented the prosecution during the hearing on the plea.
Later, the chief prosecutor told journalists: "There is a case against Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity, including 'genocide', during the July Uprising. She was the sole accused in the case.
