Dhaka, July 20 -- A Dhaka court has handed former Fatullah Police Station chief Md Hasan Ali a two-year rigorous jail term for possessing wealth beyond means.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka's Special Judge Court delivered the verdict on Sunday.
Alongside the penalty, he has been fined Tk 50,000 in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Failing to pay the fine will add three more months to his jail term.
Meanwhile, Hasan's wife, Kamrunnahar Ruby, was acquitted as the charges against her were not proven. She was not present in court during the verdict hearing.
After the verdict, the court's stenographer, Sohanur Rahman, informed that he was sent to jail with a warrant for his arrest.
