Dhaka, April 27 -- Police have arrested former Cox's Bazar-1 MP Zafar Alam in Dhaka.
He was apprehended around 3pm on Sunday in Dhanmondi, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman.
Talebur said Zafar is implicated in eight cases, including charges of murder.
He had been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government following the student-led mass uprising last year.
He was elected to parliament from Cox's Bazar-1 in the 2018 general election as a candidate of the Awami League.
However, after failing to secure the party's nomination for the 12th parliamentary elections, he ran as an independent candidate but lost.
