Dhaka, June 23 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against former member of parliament for Chapainawabganj-2, Md Ziaur Rahman, on charges of possessing illicit wealth.

His wife Kashmeri Begum has also been instructed to submit a statement of her assets.

On Monday, ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain said: "As a public servant, he allegedly abused his power and accumulated assets worth Tk 10.83 million, which is inconsistent with his known sources of income.

"There have also been suspicious transactions worth Tk 100.27 million across five bank accounts operated in his name and under his organisation."
