Dhaka, March 19 -- Doctors have found "evidence of rape" during an examination of a six-year-old child who was allegedly sexually assaulted in the capital's Khilkhet area.

On Wednesday, Sabina Yasmin, coordinator of the One Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said that a forensic exam of the child revealed "preliminary signs" of rape.

Meanwhile, the condition of the teenager accused of the crime remains critical after he was brutally beaten by a mob.

The 14-year-old suspect was arrested by the police on Tuesday night following the rape allegations.

Shortly after the arrest, however, an enraged crowd snatched the suspect out of a police vehicle and subjected him to a severe beating.
