Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route have resumed after being suspended for nearly 11 hours due to dense fog on the Padma River.

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said operations returned to normal around 8:45am on Sunday, once visibility improved.

Services had been halted from 9pm on Saturday night as a precautionary measure to avoid accidents during heavy fog.

Abu Abdullah, Assistant Manager at BIWTC's Aricha terminal, said a ferry named Chitra, which had been anchored near Kazirhat during the suspension, reached the terminal shortly after services resumed.
