Dhaka, Oct. 19 -- Fire Service Director General Brig Gen Muhammad Zahid Kamal has cited "wind resistance" as the main reason behind the delay in controlling the massive fire at Shahjalal International Airport's Cargo Village.

He arrived near Gate No. 8 of the airport around 10pm on Saturday for a briefing after the blaze, which began around 2pm, was brought under control seven hours later.

At the time, he said it could take another half an hour to fully extinguish the flames.

"I believe it won't take much longer as the fire is already under full control. It may take another half an hour," he said.
