Dhaka, May 5 -- A fire has broken out at a building named Capital Siraj Center on Bailey Road in the capital, according to the Fire Service.

The 18-storey building houses a food court, restaurants, retail shops, and residential flats.

Md Shahjahan, an official from the Fire Service's central media cell, said preliminary reports indicate the fire started on the ground floor of the Capital Siraj Center shopping mall.

Within minutes of receiving the alarm at 6:45pm on Monday, five fire-fighting units were dispatched.

The building contains several restaurants.

The 18-storey complex includes the Bailey Deli food court, restaurants, retail outlets, and residential flats, some of which are also used as offices. A children's play area called...
