Dhaka, Oct. 18 -- The fire at the cargo complex of Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport has been brought under control seven hours after it started.

Khairul Islam Roni, an official at the Fire Service control room, said the blaze was tamed at 9:18pm on Saturday.

The fire had broken out around 2:15pm in the cargo complex, with 35 Fire Service units deployed to fight the blaze.

Although it has been brought under control, the fire has not been fully extinguished, and smoke was still seen rising from the site.

With the situation stabilised and the runway ready, flight operations have resumed.
