Dhaka, Oct. 18 -- An official of the Dhaka Customs Agents Association says the blaze at Shahjalal International Airport's Cargo Village began in the area where courier operations are handled.

The association's vice-president Khairul Alam Bhuiyan Mithu said regular work continued at the Cargo Village until 2pm on Saturday despite the government holiday.

"There were still many workers there, including Ansar members," he told bdnews24.com.

"After the fire broke out, everyone was evacuated. We were told the warehouse contained chemicals and even ammunition, and there could be an explosion, so people should move away."

Although the Cargo Village typically remains closed on Fridays and Saturdays, the courier branch operates for half a day. ...
